Beginning in high school as a student leader with the Congress of South African Students, he swiftly moved through the ranks, playing pivotal roles in various organizations including the Western Cape Students Congress and the ANC. His early involvement in the Ashley Kriel detachment of MK, and his contribution to operations in Mitchell’s Plain, set the tone for a life committed to political change and social justice. Faiez’s tenure includes significant positions such as the General Secretary of the Western Cape Students Congress, where he led the Defiance Campaign across Cape schools, and his service as a member of the National Peace Keeping Force and the ANC Parliamentary Caucus. Notably, his work extended to education and labor sectors, exemplified by his role as the Western Cape Provincial Education Secretary for NEHAWU and his leadership in various training programs. His tenure in the South African Communist Party and COSATU further underscores his diverse political engagement. Currently, as a seasoned member of the Jack Simons SACP Branch and the ANC, Faiez continues to influence governance and legislation in the Western Cape, all while pursuing a PhD focused on ANC and organizational renewal.
